# Service Request

## Overview

A Service Request in BuilderTek is used to record and manage a request for a vendor or service provider to perform a specific service or provide work related to a project.

Service Requests help keep vendor-related service requirements connected to the project, including the requested work, vendor information, costs, and related project activity.

A Service Request can be created directly from a Project or through the App Launcher, depending on how you prefer to work.

### What You Can Manage Through a Service Request

A Service Request can be used to:

* Create and manage project-related service requests
* Associate service requests with a specific project
* Assign requests to vendors or service providers
* Add individual service lines, quantities, and costs
* Track requested services and their associated costs
* Manage service-related financial information
* Utilize reserved project funds against service requests
* Maintain a clear record of service requests for project and financial tracking

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.buildertek.com/service-request.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
