# Project Creation

BuilderTek projects typically begin with a **Customer Account** and an **Opportunity**. When a company receives a new request through its website, email, or another connected source, the configured workflow can create a Customer Account and Opportunity. Depending on your BuilderTek setup, Customer Accounts may be created automatically, or users may create the account and Opportunity manually.

Once the Opportunity is created, your team can work through the required **preconstruction processes**, such as Walkthroughs, RFQs, and Quoting. After these initial processes are completed, the Opportunity can move into the project stage.

BuilderTek can be configured to **automatically create a Project when an Opportunity is marked as Closed Won or when a Quote shared with the customer is accepted**. The exact trigger depends on how your organization’s workflow is configured. This allows information collected during the sales and preconstruction process to flow directly into the Project without requiring the team to recreate the same information.

Since every business follows a different process, BuilderTek workflows can be customized to match your specific requirements. You can configure when and how a Project is created, which information is carried forward, and which processes are connected to the Project.

#### Create a Project from the App Launcher

You can also create a Project manually at any time using the **App Launcher**. This option is useful when you need to create a Project directly rather than waiting for an automated workflow to trigger its creation.

Follow the steps below to create a Project from the App Launcher.

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Outcome

Your new project is now created and ready for setup.

You can now proceed to configure the remaining project components, such as creating a budget and allocating funds to individual budget lines, as covered in the next section.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.buildertek.com/projects/project-creation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
